Subsea umbilicals and cables have various applications in hull cleaning, primarily for remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) used in underwater maintenance. Here are some of the main applications:

  • Power Transmission: Subsea umbilicals are essential for providing electrical power to ROVs. These cables deliver the necessary electricity to operate the cleaning equipment attached to the ROVs.
  • Control and Communication: Umbilicals also transmit signals and data that allow operators to control the ROVs and receive feedback from the cleaning tools. Communication through these cables enables real-time monitoring and adjustment of the cleaning process.
  • Hydraulic Power: Fibron can design umbilicals that deliver hydraulic power to operate mechanisms or tools attached to the ROVs, facilitating the movement and operation of cleaning brushes, water jets, or other cleaning devices.
  • Navigation and Positioning: Some umbilicals and cables contain fibre optics used for navigation and positioning systems. These systems help ROV operators manoeuvre accurately around the hull, ensuring thorough and precise cleaning.
  • Sensors and Monitoring Equipment: Umbilicals can include sensors to monitor various parameters like pressure, temperature, and water clarity. These sensors provide crucial information for assessing the cleaning progress and ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the process.
