Fibron provides а wide variety of bespoke product solutions for a diverse range of end-user applications. Design, manufacture, testing and termination are all completed in-house, maintaining technical integrity and reliability at all times.

Our preference is to be involved with a project at an early stage. This enables our experienced engineers to collaboratively work with our customer’s engineering, technical, operations and procurement teams.

In this way we can work together to complete the project on time and within the agreed budget. This early-phase teamwork also allows us to address the functional and safety aspects of the design. Our service doesn’t end with product delivery – we continue to follow the product through its lifecycle with our dedicated after-sales services.

IWOCS

Fibron’s Intervention Work Over Contral System (IWOCS) umbilicals are designed to achieve the optimum combination of strength, durability and flexibility whilst keeping the weight and size to a minimum and never compromising on quality.

At the design phase, our experienced engineers will consider not only the specification required when in situ, but also take into account the practicalities of transport and deployment too. This might include the vessel or rig footprints, weight restrictions, special winches, reeler handling systems, handling sheaves, heave compensation and more.

IWOCS umbilicals can be terminated to subsea stab-plates to enable hook-up to the subsea equipment during well intervention activities. Fibron can also offer integration to IWOCS reelers at our dedicated production facility.

SSIV

Fibron are specialists in the design and manufacture of bespoke Subsea Isolation Valves (SSIVs) which provide critical links from the topside platform to the pipeline isolation valves on the seabed. Fibron’s umbilicals and cables are designed to meet a project’s precise requirements. Stability, tensile strength, durability and reliability are always designed in as standard.

PLEM to buoy

The umbilical that connects the Pipeline End Manifold (PLEM) to the buoy is typically used to control the transfer of fluids between the subsea pipeline and the tanker. Fibron’s experienced team will design and manufacture not only the umbilical, but also the bespoke terminations – both Topside Umbilical Termination Unit (TUTU) and Subsea Umbilical Termination Unit (SUTU).

Production Control Umbilicals

We can offer a range of short to medium length Production Control Umbilicals for use in varying depths of water. Frequently these umbilicals are used to tieback subsea trees to both fixed platforms and Floating Production Storage and Offloading Platforms (FPSOs). Importantly, we can design and manufacture the jumpers and flying leads that are often associated with the Production Control Umbilicals, and we can design and supply bespoke terminations to interface with the existing subsea or topside equipment. In all, Fibron offers customers the ability to source a complete package, all from one trusted supplier.

An Intervention Workover Control System, or IWOCS, umbilical is a temporary control connection used during subsea well installation, intervention, workover, testing or decommissioning. It transfers the hydraulic, electrical and, where required, optical services needed to operate and monitor subsea trees, landing strings and related equipment.

Important factors include hydraulic and electrical service requirements, operating pressure and temperature, chemical compatibility, collapse resistance, fatigue, repeated deployment, weight, minimum bend radius and compatibility with the reel, sheaves and heave-compensation system.

High-strength fibre reinforcement can be used where reduced weight and increased flexibility are priorities.

An IWOCS umbilical is generally deployed temporarily and may be repeatedly reeled, recovered and moved between operations. A static production-control umbilical is normally installed for a longer period to connect permanent subsea equipment to a platform, floating facility or another subsea system.

The different duty cycles lead to different priorities for fatigue, handling, armour, ballast, terminations and installation.

A Subsea Isolation Valve, or SSIV, umbilical provides the control link between topside equipment and a pipeline isolation valve installed on the seabed. Depending on the system, it can incorporate hydraulic control, electrical monitoring, communications and associated termination hardware.

Reliability, protection and long-term termination integrity are especially important because the valve forms part of a safety-critical isolation system.

A Pipeline End Manifold-to-buoy umbilical connects subsea pipeline-control equipment to a surface or near-surface buoy system. It can carry the control, monitoring and other services required for fluid-transfer operations.

Fibron can design the umbilical together with its topside and subsea termination units, allowing the interfaces and mechanical load path to be addressed as a complete package.

A blowout-preventer, or BOP, control umbilical transfers the hydraulic and electrical services required to operate and monitor a BOP system. A construction may contain a large number of small hydraulic hoses, larger central hoses, electrical pairs, strength members and a protective outer sheath.

Because it supports safety-critical functions, the design, materials, manufacturing controls and verification regime must be agreed around the specific system and operating duty.

Yes. Fibron can supply hydraulic flying leads, electrical flying leads and short subsea or topside jumpers. Coverings and protection can be selected for diver or ROV handling, and the assemblies can be supplied with the required connectors, couplers, stab plates or integration hardware.
