Philip Ashley

Chief Executive Officer

Appointed Chief Executive Officer in December 2020. Previously served senior roles at Baker Hughes, Siemens, Expro and ABB.

BA in Economics with Mathematics and MBA from Henley Management College.

Joined in December 2020. Philip brings to Fibron more than 25 years of experience in the Subsea sectors from leadership roles with Baker Hughes, Siemens, Expro and ABB. Technology-driven with a strong background in leading and working within manufacturing businesses. He has a collaborative and hands-on approach, is customer-driven, constantly looking for opportunities to apply his team’s collective skills and capabilities to deliver mutually beneficial solutions to customer challenges and requirements.

Bruno Cianfini

Operations Director

Appointed as Operations Director in Jan 2021. Previously Operations Director, Contracts/Projects Director.

Joined prior to acquisition by the Cortland Companies in 1995, having previously served as the Operations Leader of a specialist electrical cable manufacturer. Bruno has held senior positions in the business throughout his tenure including the roles of Operations Director, Contracts Director, and Projects Director supporting the business through three acquisitions and three facility moves. In June 2017 took over the role of Managing Director from Neil McAdam. Jan 2021 onwards focused on the Operations lead role in support of the CEO.

David Simpson

QHSE and Projects Director

Appointed as QHSE and Projects Director October 2017. Previously Commercial Director.

Joined the company in March 2000 directly after acquisition by the Cortland Companies. More than 30 years of experience, previously served as the Quality Manager of a major cable systems manufacturer. More than 30 years of experience within the specialist arena of cables and umbilicals for the Offshore Oil and Gas market, and has worked in all associated departments. He was also responsible for the drive and effort in achieving the BS EN ISO9001:2000, in which full compliance was achieved in December 2001. Dave added management of the Projects Dept. to his responsibilities in Oct 2017 which he previously covered as Commercial Director from 2006 to 2011.

Patrick Kearney

BSc Mechanical Engineering

Manages the design of all the technical products produced by Fibron. Previously Technical Director at a major cable systems manufacturer.

BSc Mechanical Engineering.

Joined the company in November 2009. More than 30 years of experience, previously served as Technical Director of a major cable systems manufacturer. Patrick has over 20 years of experience designing umbilicals and cables for the offshore oil and gas market previously managed the design (umbilical and associated terminations) of workover umbilicals, production control umbilicals and intervessel medium voltage (33kV) power cables. This includes all associated termination equipment such as pull-in heads hang-off collars and topside junction boxes.

Andrew Finch

Finance Director

Responsible for support functions including primarily finance and IT. ACCA qualified. Previously worked in finance roles in the publishing industry.

Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) qualified.

Joining in April 2009, Andrew previously served in various roles in the Publishing Industry (newspaper/magazines), the last being Finance Director for a group of local newspapers. In his time at Cortland / Fibron he developed the reporting systems that support the business and support the acquisition process in 2018. His role also encompasses HR and IT functions for the company. Andrew has been responsible for new system integrations and migrations post-recent acquisition.

OUR HISTORY

Fibron BX is a major designer, manufacturer and global provider of subsea cable and umbilical systems used by the offshore Oil and Gas industry. The company has considerable in-house design expertise and manufacturing facilities capable of producing a broad range of product. Fibron track record ensures provision of cable or umbilical solutions for most situations, and expertise and experience in this field of operation.

Fibron supply products to major operators and contractors globally and places great emphasis on developing strong and long-term relationships with their client base and their supply base.

The company was established as Fibron BX in 1986 and was acquired by the Cortland Group in 2000, rebranding as Cortland Fibron BX. The Cortland Group of companies were subsequently acquired in 2007 by the Cortec Group, a US private equity company. In September 2008 the Cortland Companies were acquired by Actuant Corporation, a NYSE listed company. In 2017 Actuant decided to divest it’s Oil and Gas companies. December 2018 Rubicon Partners acquired the UK umbilical and cable business following a corporate carve-out. In 2019 rebranded the company was rebranded as Fibron.

OUR TIMELINE

Fibron BX established.

Fibron BX was acquired by the Cortland Group, Hose and umbilical capability was added to the existing Cortland Group with a renewed focus on the design and manufacture of specialist umbilicals and cables.

Moved to a new manufacturing facility in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, UK opened sales offices in Aberdeen and Houston.

Major additional investment was injected for capital equipment for the manufacture of long-length layup machines, hose braiders and extrusion lines.

Cortland Companies was acquired by Cortec Group, a US private equity Company.

Cortland Companies was acquired by Actuant Group, an Industrial group listed on the NYSE with interests in Oil & Gas and energy companies.

A growth plan strategy resulted in an investment for additional capital equipment and factory storage.

Cortland Fibron was divested from Cortland / Actuant following the acquisition by Rubicon Partners.

Rebranded as Fibron. Operating as a separate independent company under new ownership committed to extending 30-plus years of product focus and supply to Offshore Oil & Gas, ROV, Diving, Seismic / Geophysical, Defense and other special end-use applications.
